As we go about our lives, it’s easy to focus on what goes wrong in our week rather than appreciating the good things. But then something happens to remind us of what life is all about: making a positive difference in the lives of others.

Each Monday morning, the Ardenwoods Craft and Chat group gathers for fellowship. They practice various forms of crafting, including diamond painting, knitting, crocheting and sewing. Residents are welcome to bring any craft of their choice to the meetups.

For nearly 50 years, Heather Glen resident Jim Whalen made his living with his hands — shaping raw earth into vessels marked by patterns and texture. A lifelong artist and professional potter, Jim spent decades creating work that encouraged people not just to see art, but to feel it.

As we approach Thanksgiving, let's reflect on how to practice gratitude, not only during this season, but throughout the year.
